HEAL Launches - A Smashing Success
On September 20th, 2015 the Horsepower Equine Assisted Learning (HEAL) Foundation was launched!
The launch event was focused on the horse and human bond gained through Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP), an innovative form of therapy that focuses on experiential learning. Over 125 guests were present to celebrate the evening and learn more about the HEAL Foundation and its mission to support the health of our veterans and their families.
The main event of the evening, a panel of speakers, was highlighted by LtC. Mark Knox who described in great detail the need for equine assisted psychotherapy and Rebecca Morrison who shared her personal story. In addition to panel of speakers the guests were able to enjoy a tour of the property, interact with the members of HEAL and the community, enjoy food and drinks, and take in the sounds of live music.
The evening was an enjoyable and purposeful one: as one attendee noted, "I didn't want to leave-- I wanted to keep learning about equine psychotherapy and the great work being done to help our vets--never before have I been so moved by a presentation and a cause. I realized I was holding my breath because I didn't want to miss a word." Another added that the presentation portion, “really brought home the stories of our dedicated military members who have been through a lot in war, and then even more when coming home”.
HEAL looks forward to continuing our mission of serving veterans and their families and we are grateful for the support of our generous sponsors and donors.
To continued growth,
